Leaving Emerald we were not sure of our next stop but ended up in Mackay for a few nights. On the way we went through a few small towns, Capella has this wonderful war memorial all made from steel.
Saturday we went for a drive around Mackay as the last time we were there was our honeymoon 30 years ago! It sure has changed a bit, there are even adds on the TV for job vacancies, a diesel mechanic for a car yard can earn $150k pa if you can believe the ad. The marina has`also grown with heaps of boats.
We have never seen so many people wearing Hi Vis clothing and driving 4WD cars, the place if full of them and has every shop you can think of.
We left Mackay Monday morning having booked a park near Seaforth, got there only to find it like a jungle and not an ounce of sunshine to be had, slipped away from there and are now in the noisiest park around, near the Bruce Highway south of Prosserpine, thank heavens we have booked Bowen and Lucinda for the next week or so.
The view of the cane fields and ocean beyond on the way to Seaforth was almost worth the drive, beautiful.
